We have just returned from our trip to Italy, where we enjoyed a great amount of delicious pastries, which I am going to consider as a comparative case study for my Portuguese Pastry Post-Doc. While Portugal is brilliant at pastries, there is no match for the sheer variety of Italian desserts. There is certainly more chocolate used in Italy than in Portugal (which we appreciate), and we found no fault with all of the flawless coffee drinks. Though I have become partial to the Portuguese Galão (Cafe Au Lait in a glass) in Lisbon it is not as satisfying as a real Italian cappuccino.
